Ken Cribbins Memorial Scholarship Fund of Sunrise Chapter #28,
Order of the Eastern Star, Henderson

Ken Cribbins, 1930-2012

Ken began piano lessons before the age of five. When old enough, he rode the streetcar from Burlingame California, to San Francisco for his lessons. High school offered him the opportunity to play the viola in the Burlingame High School orchestra. However, piano was his thing – for his amusement, amazement, relaxation, and for the pleasure of others. In his later years, his arthritic hands and thumbs presented a new challenge.

Ken played for Masonic groups in California and Nevada – the last 16 years as the Organist for Sunrise Chapter #28, Order of the Eastern Star, Henderson. He also served as Grand Organist for the Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Nevada in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

Starting in 2014, two scholarships have been established in Ken’s memory and will be awarded to one music student who attends Foothill High School, and one music student who attends Basic High School, both in Henderson, Nevada. Applicants must meet a minimum GPA, and submit an essay for consideration.

ESTARL Ministry
The ESTARL program was established pursuant to our interest in encouraging youth to train in the areas of religious leadership. The program is designed to encourage students to deepen their interest in religion.

Students who participate in the program are chosen without regard to any restrictions based on race, color, creed or sex and solely on the basis of outstanding ability and demonstrated qualities of leadership and interest in religious leadership.

The students, by reason of their high caliber and the uniqueness of their interest and experience, form a pool of outstanding young persons of the type from which our future religious leaders must come
